Other Pain Conditions
Comprehensive evaluation for chronic and localized pain conditions
At Dr. Barsoom Pain & Migraine Practice, we assess and manage a wide range of musculoskeletal and soft tissue conditions beyond migraine and major joint arthritis. Accurate diagnosis is the foundation of effective care. Dr. Barsoom focuses on identifying whether pain arises from tendons, ligaments, joints, muscles, or nerves so that treatment can be tailored to restore function and reduce long-term discomfort.

Plantar Fasciitis (Heel Pain)
Plantar fasciitis is one of the most common causes of heel pain. It occurs when the thick band of tissue connecting the heel to the toes becomes irritated or degenerative.
Symptoms may include:
• Sharp heel pain, especially with the first steps in the morning
• Pain after prolonged standing
• Tenderness along the bottom of the foot
Treatment may include:
• Activity modification
• Footwear optimization
• Stretching and strengthening exercises
• Physiotherapy
• Corticosteroid injections
• Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) for selected chronic cases
Ankle Pain & Instability
Chronic ankle pain or instability often develops after repeated sprains or injuries. If not properly treated, it may lead to persistent weakness, swelling, or recurrent sprains.
Symptoms may include:
• Ankle “giving way”
• Swelling after activity
• Pain with walking or uneven surfaces
Treatment may include rehabilitation programs, bracing strategies, prolotherapy, or PRP for selected ligament injuries.
Back Pain
Back pain is one of the most common reasons for medical consultation. It may arise from muscles, facet joints, ligaments, discs, or sacroiliac joints.
At Dr. Barsoom Pain & Migraine Practice, evaluation focuses on identifying the mechanical or structural source of pain.
Treatment may include:
• Targeted exercise programs
• Physiotherapy guidance
• Anti-inflammatory strategies
• Injection therapies when appropriate
Hip Pain
Hip pain may result from osteoarthritis, bursitis, tendon injuries, or labral irritation.
Symptoms may include:
• Groin pain
• Pain when walking or climbing stairs
• Lateral hip pain when lying on one side
Treatment options depend on diagnosis and may include conservative therapy, corticosteroid injections, PRP, or other regenerative approaches.
Post-Injury Pain
Pain that persists after a sprain, strain, fall, or accident may become chronic if not properly addressed.
Post-injury pain may involve:
• Ligament damage
• Tendon degeneration
• Nerve irritation
• Joint instability
A structured evaluation helps determine whether regenerative therapies such as PRP, prolotherapy, or perineural injection therapy may be appropriate.
Other Conditions Commonly Treated
• Bursitis (shoulder, hip, elbow)
• Trigger finger
• Carpal tunnel syndrome
• Chronic tendinopathy
• Sacroiliac (SI) joint dysfunction
Treatment Approaches May Include
Depending on diagnosis:
• Physiotherapy and exercise programs
• Activity modification
• Corticosteroid injections
• Perineural Injection Therapy (PIT)
• Prolotherapy
• Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP)
Not all treatments are covered by OHIP. Suitability is determined during consultation.
